Gemini is now available in Chrome for more people in Asia and the Pacific. Google has introduced the AI assistant to seven new countries: Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. 9to5Google reports that the update began on April 20, 2026. Previously, Gemini launched in North America, India, Canada, and New Zealand. With this expansion, millions more users can now access Gemini directly in their Chrome browser.

What can Gemini in Chrome do?

Once updated, users will see a “Ask Gemini” icon in the top-right corner of the browser. Clicking it opens a side panel where Gemini can help with common tasks:

Gemini
  • Summarize long articles or webpages.
  • Answer questions about YouTube videos.
  • Compare information across multiple open tabs.
  • Draft emails or schedule meetings using Gmail and Google Calendar.
  • Transform images with simple text prompts.

Gemini works on desktop (Windows, Mac, Chromebook Plus) and on iOS, except for users in Japan on iPhones. You need to be signed into a Google account and at least 18 years old. To start using Gemini, update Chrome to the latest version. The feature is free for basic use, though some advanced tools may require a subscription.

In conclusion, Gemini’s expansion into Asia-Pacific markets makes AI-powered browsing more accessible than ever. Update Chrome today and look for the Gemini icon to get started.
