Qualcomm has confirmed that the Quick Share to AirDrop feature will soon be available on smartphones powered by Snapdragon. Thanks to this confirmation, soon most Android phones, like Samsung, OnePlus, and others, will be able to easily share files with Apple products like iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

Sharing files directly between Android and iPhone is getting easier, which removes one of the biggest barriers between smartphone ecosystems. It’s now official that a lot of other popular devices will be able to get what was only available on Google’s Pixel 10.

The way to make Quick Share work with AirDrop for everyone

Google said in its first announcement, “We can’t wait for people to use this once it’s enabled on Snapdragon in the near future.” This was used by the official Snapdragon X account. The feature is being worked on to make it bigger, but there is no date set for when it will be ready.

Quick Share

Google had already said that its Quick Share system and Apple’s AirDrop could work together before this news. It was first added to the Pixel 10 family, but Google promised from the start that it would be available on more Android phones.

The table below shows the current and expected device compatibility for this new cross-platform sharing:

Device CompatibilityStatus
Google Pixel 10 SeriesAvailable Now
Snapdragon-powered Android phonesConfirmed, Coming Soon
Other Android devices (e.g., MediaTek, Samsung Exynos)Expected, based on Google’s plans

This new Quick Share to AirDrop feature lets you send files both ways. Apple devices can receive photos, videos, and documents from Android phones, and iPhones can send files to Android phones that can read them. There is no server where your data is kept because the connection is direct and peer-to-peer.

The feature will only work if the recipient’s device can be found. If an iPhone user wants to get files from an Android user, they need to make their AirDrop public for “Everyone for 10 minutes.” People with Android phones must also make their phones visible in order to get files from iPhones.

Google has made it clear that the Quick Share to AirDrop feature was made with safety in mind. To keep data safe while it was being sent, they used memory-safe programming and reviews by outside experts. Snapdragon devices now have Quick Share to AirDrop, which is a big step toward making it work for all Android and iPhone users.
