Apple has made a big move in live sports broadcasting, saying that some Los Angeles Lakers games will be streamed in the Apple Immersive Video format for the Vision Pro headset. The first games are expected to be available by early 2026. This project, which came about through a partnership with Spectrum SportsNet, aims to give viewers a sense of being courtside and feeling the intensity of the game in ways that aren’t possible with regular broadcasts.
The games will be filmed with a special version of Blackmagic Design’s URSA Cine Immersive Live camera to give players this one-of-a-kind experience. These cameras will be placed in smart ways on the court and under each basket to give viewers one-of-a-kind, immersive views of the action. This is the first time a live sports event will be shown in the Apple Immersive Video format, which has previously shown only concerts, intimate documentaries, and short films.

Owners of Vision Pro will need the NBA app or the Charter Communications Spectrum SportsNet app, which will be available soon, to watch live games. Apple released visionOS 26 in September 2025, and both apps will need it to work. The full game schedule will be announced later in the fall of 2025. Only residents of the Lakers’ home region in the United States may have access to some live events.
The NBA app will have full game replays available in several countries for international fans. These countries include the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the UAE. Many people think that this new feature is an important addition to the Vision Pro’s content library. It could be the “killer app” that makes the device worth its high price and gets more people to use it.
