The Nano Banana image model is the main new feature in Google Photos, which is adding a lot of creative AI to its app. This update adds a bunch of new features that make it easier than ever to edit, search for, and change your photos.

Google DeepMind made the powerful Nano Banana model, which is now built right into the Photos editor. It helps the AI make changes that look more real and are more consistent, whether you’re fixing a small detail or giving an image a whole new look.

Nano Banana powers a new creative toolkit

You can now ask for complicated changes and get them. You can now change your pictures with text or voice commands thanks to a new “Help me edit” option.

You can tell Google Photos to “take off Riley’s sunglasses” or “make Engel smile and open her eyes,” and the AI will do the rest. This feature for personalized edits uses your private face groups to make changes that are correct for people in your library.

The addition of Nano Banana makes for amazing changes in more creative projects. You can tell the app to make a picture look like a Renaissance painting, a colorful mosaic, or a page from a children’s book.

A new “Create with AI” section has templates that you can use if you don’t know what to ask for. With just one tap, you can instantly make professional headshots or put yourself on a winter holiday card. In the U.S. and India, this feature will be available first on Android.

In addition to editing, a new “Ask” button is now on your photos. You can start a conversation by tapping it. You can ask for changes, ask questions about the picture, or find related moments from your library.

The Ask Photos feature is now available in over 100 countries and 17 new languages, making it easier for people all over the world to find specific photos using natural language.

Along with the new photo editor, U.S. iOS users will also get the ability to edit conversations. Google Photos is changing from a simple storage album to a fun and creative place for your memories to live and play. This is thanks to the power of Nano Banana.
