Google has announced that the conversational editing feature in Google Photos will be available to all eligible Android users in the United States. This feature was initially introduced as an exclusive one for the Pixel 10 series. This expansion, which began on September 23, 2025, is a big step toward making advanced, AI-powered photo editing available to many more people.
Google powers this feature with its advanced Gemini models, aiming to significantly simplify photo editing. Users no longer have to manually switch between tools and adjust sliders for brightness or contrast. Instead, they can say what changes they want to see.

- You can give instructions by typing or speaking into the new “Help me edit” button in the Google Photos editor.
- You might ask for simple fixes like “remove the glare” or “add clouds to the sky,” offer a general directive like “make it better,” or even request creative, whimsical edits, such as transporting the subject of a photo to a beach or outer space.
Google’s Gemini AI then processes the request, performing the complex image manipulations in just a few seconds to deliver the final result.
You have to meet a few requirements to use this feature. You must be at least 18 years old, live in the United States, and have your Google account set to English. You also need to turn on “Ask Photos” and “Face Groups” in your Google Photos settings, and enable location estimates.

Google has noted that it may take a few days for the “Help me edit” option to appear after a user has opted in. To be clear, all pictures that have been altered with this AI tool will have a C2PA “Edited with AI tools” label to indicate that they have been digitally altered.
In conclusion, editing conversations represents a significant shift in user interaction. It moves away from complicated software interfaces and toward a more natural, language-based way to be creative.
