Microsoft has said that it will raise the prices of its Xbox game consoles in the US once more. This price hike will go into effect on October 3, 2025. It will be the second price increase this year. The company says that changes in the overall economy are the main reason for this choice.
The Xbox Series X will now cost $649.99 at retail, up $50 from its previous price. The price of the Xbox Series S with 1TB of storage will go up by $20, bringing the total to $449.99. The Galaxy Black Special Edition Xbox Series X with 2TB, the more expensive version, will cost $799.99, $70 more than the regular price.
Microsoft had already raised Xbox prices earlier in May 2025. The price of the X Series X increased by $100 to $599.99, and the Series S price increased from $299.99 to $379.99. This means the price of the standard Xbox Series X has risen by $150 in just a few months, and the price of the Galaxy Black Special Edition has risen by $200 since it launched a year ago.
Microsoft says the price hikes are due to tariffs and other economic factors, not just the consoles. Tariffs of 10% to 40% on various parts have forced companies to adjust their prices. Even though console prices are going up, Microsoft will keep Xbox controller and headset prices the same in the US, and console prices outside the US will not be affected by this latest price increase.
