Microsoft has said that it will raise the prices of its Xbox game consoles in the US once more. This price hike will go into effect on October 3, 2025. It will be the second price increase this year. The company says that changes in the overall economy are the main reason for this choice.

The Xbox Series X will now cost $649.99 at retail, which is $50 more than the old price. The price of the Xbox Series S with 1TB of storage will go up by $20, bringing the total to $449.99. The Galaxy Black Special Edition Xbox Series X with 2TB, which is the more expensive version, will cost $799.99, which is $70 more than the regular price.

Microsoft had already raised the prices of Xboxes earlier in May 2025. The price of the Xbox Series X went up by $100 to $599.99, and the price of the Series S went up from $299.99 to $379.99. This means that the price of the standard Xbox Series X has gone up by $150 in just a few months, and the price of the Galaxy Black Special Edition has gone up by $200 since it came out a year ago.

Microsoft has said that the price increases are not just because of the consoles themselves; they are also affected by tariffs and other economic factors, especially those that have to do with goods coming from countries like China, where many Xbox parts are made. Companies have had to rethink their prices because of these tariffs, which range from 10% to 40% on different parts.

Even though the prices of consoles are going up, Microsoft will keep the prices of Xbox controllers and headsets the same in the U.S., and the prices of consoles outside the U.S. will not be affected by this latest price increase.

This isn’t the only time this has happened to Microsoft. Sony and Nintendo, two other gaming companies, have also raised the prices of their hardware recently because of the same economic pressures and tariffs.

If you want to avoid paying more, you can buy Xbox consoles at their current prices until October 3, when the price goes up. Big stores like Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart will keep selling things at the old prices until then.

In summary, the Xbox remains a sought-after gaming system, but shoppers should be aware of the rising costs tied to larger economic trends and government tariffs. The brand emphasizes it understands these changes are significant and aims to continue providing quality gaming experiences for users.
