Electronic Arts has had a giant success with the release of Battlefield 6. The company said that in the first three days, it sold a “record-breaking” 7 million copies. This is the most successful launch in the history of the Battlefield series.

This level of sales puts the game in a league that was previously ruled by its main rival, Call of Duty. Battlefield 6’s launch is now “danger close” to the three-day record of $600 million set by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in 2019, with a minimum revenue of $490 million.

Compared to the previous entries in the series, this one is even more impressive. For example, Battlefield 3 sold about 5 million copies in its first week, so the 7 million copies sold for Battlefield 6 is a new record for the series.

Huge player engagement during the game’s open beta in August and its launch on Steam in September hinted at the record-breaking sales. The game reached a peak of almost 750,000 players at the same time on the platform, which shows how popular it was with players.

In addition to sales, the game’s explosive start is shown by other impressive numbers: fans played more than 172 million matches and watched gameplay streams for more than 15 million hours in the first weekend.

Battlefield 6 Multiplayer is being praised as a return to form

Battlefield 6 is a strong return for the series after Battlefield 2042 let fans down, according to both critics and players. Reviews say that the multiplayer part is the best part of the game, calling it “back to its best” and “a brilliant return to form.”

The game is best when you play in large groups, like in Conquest and Breakthrough, where 64 players can play on big maps with a mix of vehicles. Critics say that these modes offer “epic moments, massive explosions, and far more cinematic” gameplay than other shooters, making for an “exhilarating” and “almost operatic” experience.

A lot of people have praised the sound and visuals for making players feel like they are part of a huge, “ear-shattering” military attack.

Some reviews, on the other hand, say that the identity is split. The game features a few smaller, close-quarters combat maps that appear designed to directly rival Call of Duty. Some critics say that Battlefield 6 can’t quite match its rival in this area.

The single-player campaign has also gotten mixed to bad reviews, with many calling it a “superfluous,” “hackneyed techno thriller” that doesn’t leave a lasting impression.

Battlefield 6’s successful launch is just the beginning of what’s to come. Season 1, which starts on October 28, is the first step in the game’s post-launch roadmap. It will add new maps, weapons, and gadgets to the game.

This strong start sets the stage for a new chapter in the long-running rivalry between Battlefield and Call of Duty. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 comes out on November 14.
