Google has started sending out the big Wear OS 6 update to the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3. This is positive news for people who own those smartwatches. This software comes out just before the Pixel Watch 4, and it makes big changes to the look and performance of older models.
The new Material 3 Expressive design language that comes with the update fully embraces the round display of the watch. This makes the interface more fluid and tailored to you. For example, Dynamic Color theming automatically applies the colors from your watch face to other parts of the operating system, like notifications and Tiles, to give everything a unified look.
The user interface has become more immersive, featuring new scrolling animations that outline the screen’s edges and space-efficient “edge hugging” buttons. The Alarm, Stopwatch, and Timer applications have undergone a visual enhancement.

Wear OS 6 not only changes how things look, but it also makes things work better. Wear OS 6 not only changes how things look, but it also makes things work better. Google says that platform optimizations can make the battery last up to 10% longer than Wear OS 5.
The update also comes with the security patch from October 2025. People who love media can now get better controls for podcasts and music. Watches running Wear OS 5.1 and later can do things like fast-forward, rewind, and access playlists.

The rollout began on October 8, 2025, and it works with both the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and LTE versions of the Pixel Watch 2 and 3. You can check for the update manually by going to Settings > System > System updates on your watch if you haven’t gotten a notification.
You can open Connectivity preferences and turn off Bluetooth for a short time to force a Wi-Fi connection, which might speed up the download. The original Pixel Watch hasn’t gotten the update yet, but it should get it soon since its software update guarantee lasts until at least October 2025.
