Microsoft is making the ROG Xbox Ally’s unique interface available to more people. The Xbox Full Screen Experience is now available on all Windows-powered handheld gaming PCs. This update changes the standard Windows 11 interface into a dashboard that resembles a console. It makes things easier to use and more focused on gaming for devices like the Lenovo Legion Go and MSI Claw.

The new ROG Xbox Ally full-screen experience goes mainstream

The Xbox Full Screen Experience will no longer be available only on the ROG Xbox Ally starting on November 21. This optimized interface is now available to people who own other Windows handhelds, like the Lenovo Legion Go and MSI Claw. This move by Microsoft is a big step toward making PC and handheld gaming the same.

The main reason people like this new interface is that it is easy to use. When you start it up, it goes straight to the Xbox app, which puts your game library front and center. You can look through and start games from different stores, like Steam and the Epic Games Store, without having to go to the Windows desktop.

One of the best things about the Xbox Full Screen Experience is how well it works. The mode makes Windows 11 run more smoothly by stopping unnecessary background processes. This optimization frees up about 2GB of memory, allowing your games to use more system resources. This feature could improve performance and smooth frame rates for people who play games on their phones.

It’s easy to turn on the feature. If you have a compatible handheld, go to Settings > Gaming > Full screen experience and choose Xbox as your home app. This smooth integration gives Windows handhelds a plug-and-play feel that they didn’t have before.

The Verge and Windows Central say this expansion shows that Microsoft is serious about improving gaming on handheld devices. The Xbox Full Screen Experience is a great alternative to other console-style interfaces because it lets players access their entire PC game library on the go in a more unified way.
