Football Manager fans got a new look at the next game when the latest edition was revealed. This announcement comes after last year’s edition was abruptly canceled. Sports Interactive, the company that developed Football Manager 2025 (FM25), canceled the planned release because the project wasn’t up to the quality standards players had set.
They said it was a “difficult decision” to cancel, but reassured fans that they are now putting all their attention into making the next game. A teaser was recently shared on social media, sparking gamers’ excitement. There is a big warning in this preview that some of the footage shown might not be real gameplay.

A commentator, Peter Drury, reads the clip and says, “The wait has been long.” There is no way to ignore the buildup. So many things have changed, but how did you feel? It came back. “The message that ends it is very interesting: ‘Guess who’s back?'” It also hints that a “match day first look” will be shown soon.
The series first appeared in 2004, and since then, new versions have appeared every year. The launch of FM25 was supposed to happen in November 2024, but it was pushed back and then scrapped altogether. In a blog post in February, Sports Interactive announced that the game would not be released and that development would now focus on the 2026 version. People who pre-ordered the canceled version were promised a refund.
For those who don’t know, the game lets players choose clubs and try to lead them to victory, just like a real football manager would. The developer has said that FM26 will have better graphics, a better user interface, and, most importantly, women’s teams for the first time in the series.
Sports Interactive had previously said that adding female players would require creating a new statistics database and motion-capture data. This indicates that a lot of work went into making these teams feel like they really exist in the game. This change seems to be the start of an exciting new era for Football Manager fans.
