Meta has released its first Ray-Ban smart glasses with an integrated augmented reality display. This is a big step toward making wearable technology more common. The Meta Ray-Ban Display has a small, bright screen on the inside of the right lens that shows text messages, translations, navigation directions, and even live video calls. The display lets people see these things without having to take out their phone. This display is hidden from others and doesn’t block the wearer’s view, so that it can be used in private.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg showed off the glasses at the Meta Connect event and discussed how they could make AI part of everyday life. “Glasses are the only form factor where you can let AI see what you see and hear what you hear,” Zuckerberg said. He was talking about how they can provide people with real-time information and support while keeping them aware of their surroundings.

The Meta Neural Band is an electromyography (EMG) wristband that turns small hand movements into commands. It is one of the most important new features of the glasses. This lets users control the glasses’ interface by just moving their fingers, even if their hand is behind their back or under a table. They can scroll, choose options, change the volume, or even write messages.

The band is made to last all day, with up to 18 hours of battery life and a strong, flexible design. The glasses can do many things, such as display live captions and translations during conversations, help people find their way while walking with step-by-step directions, and control music playback.

Meta’s AI assistant can also give visual answers to questions, like showing you how to make a recipe step-by-step or pointing out landmarks. It does this by using the glasses’ camera to look at the user’s surroundings. The glasses still look like classic Ray-Ban Wayfarers, even though they have more advanced features. This keeps them from looking too big, like older smart glasses. They have Transition lenses that adapt to light, a 12MP camera for photos and videos, and a battery that lasts up to 6 hours of mixed use and can be extended to 30 hours with the included charging case.

The Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses will cost $799 and be available in the U.S. starting September 30. They will also be available in the UK, France, Italy, and Canada in early 2026. Meta also said that the Oakley Meta Vanguard is a sport-focused version made for athletes. It offers features like real-time fitness data integration and automatic video highlights during workouts.

In conclusion, this launch cements Meta’s lead in the smart glasses market. The glasses combine style, functionality, and AI integration to bring us closer to a future where technology improves our lives without getting in the way.
